Update On the Melo Situation

As of Monday morning, all reports are that the Knicks are the odds on favorite to wind up trading for Carmelo Anthony.  It now sounds like the Nuggets are trying to squeeze rookie center Timofey Mozgov into the deal.  Melo becoming a Knick overshadows more poor decisions being made by the front office.  With Carmelo likely disinterested in signing an extension with anyone other than the Knicks, Donnie Walsh had the Knicks in the driver seat for Carmelo for months now.  With a week left before the trade deadline, it appears James Dolan has taken control and offered the roster to the Nuggets.  Once again, Mr. Dolan needs to stay away from the day to day operations and let Donnie Walsh do his job!  It took two years for Walsh to bring this team back from the laughing stock of the league and it seems as though it will take Mr. Dolan just one weekend to undo all the progress.  In my opinion, the Knicks could have made this deal happen with just one or two NBA ready players.  What other option do the Nuggets have?  They will take the Knicks best offer or wait and lose Melo to free agency this summer.  Expect to see this trade go through later today.  Below is a list of the speculated names that will be included in the deal.

Nuggets will get: Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Timofey Mozgov, Corey Brewer, Knicks 2014 first-round pick.

Timberwolves will get: Anthony Randolph, Eddy Curry

Knicks will get: Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Sheldon Williams, Renaldo Balkman

Stoudemire and Anthony at the All-Star Game Sunday Night in Los Angeles, CA

Projected starting 5 for NYK: PG- Billups, SG- Fields, SF - Anthony, PF- Stoudemire, C- Turiaf

This will also leave the Knicks in good shape to bring in one of the following 3 major free agents in 2012: Deron Williams, Chris Paul, Dwight Howard.
